Dr. Yulin Hu is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering at UPEI. Dr. Hu has 10 years of experience in biomass conversion, biofuels, bioproducts, pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, supercritical water gasification, and upgrading. She has a proven track record of publications with 44 peer reviewed articles and a total citation of 1,608 and an h-index of 22, among which were published in high-impact journals like Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Conversion and Management, and Bioresource Technology. Dr. Hu has built a strong collaboration with local industries such as AKA Energy Systems, Atlantic Aqua Farms, SustainAgro, and Tunistrong Inc. She has supervised/co-supervised 2 PhDs, 3 MScs, and 2 UGs with external funding from NSERC DG with supplement, RTI, CTO, PEI Climate Challenge, and Mitacs Accelerate. Her current research is related to the development of environmentally friendly and cost-effective conversion technologies to produce H2, syngas, advanced biofuels, CO2 absorbent, and other value-added bioproducts from a wide range of biomass and organic waste.

CLISA is the first multi-institutional training program in Canada towards climate smart agriculture to help address the need for HQPs who possess appropriate knowledge and expertise in climate change, precision agriculture, water and soil management, sustainable food production and food value chains, and climate-smart financing and policies to promote the development and application of innovative technologies and strategies in Canadian farming practices.
